ATM, CASH and CURRENCY: Cash is the easiest way to pay all around Santa Teresa. Except for the supermarket and some few restaurants at hotel, almost all services and shops only accept cash. Most places accept both Colones (CRC) and US dollars (USD).

In the San José (SJO) Airport you can find an ATM at the Luggage Claim Hall. In Santa Teresa there are also two ATMs, both located at Playa Carmen (10’ drive away from Nahele Lodge).

VISA REQUIREMENTS: EU and US citizens do not require visa to visit Costa Rica. The regulations for other countries can vary, so please check what applies for you before traveling. What you must carry with you is:
a) A current valid passport, and
b) a return ticket to exit Costa Rica (either to return to your country or to go to another country)
You may enter Costa Rica without visa for a maximum stay of up to 90 days. For more info please check:

VACCINATIONS: Costa Rican authorities demand that all travellers coming from the following countries (Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Bolivia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador as well as the Republic of Guyana) have a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Beyond this formal request you do not need any special vaccination to be allowed to visit the country. In terms of prevention, check the following link with vaccines and medicine suggestions: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/costa-rica

WATER: We do not recommend that you drink tap water while you are in Santa Teresa. Most of the water here comes from local wells. Safest is to buy water from the local super markets.

TOILETS: Do never throw your toilet paper into the toilet. Instead always throw it in the bin next to the toilets. The plumbing does not handle any trash and it easily, or rather to 99% risk, will create a blockage.
